Bring a Group

Group Types

Self-Guided

The Jane Addams Hull-House Museum is always free for self-guided visits.

Because of the size of the museum and to ensure access, we ask groups of ten or more to coordinate the timing of their visit with our team. If you are planning to bring a group of ten or more visitors, please email jahh@uic.edu and mention “Self-Guided Group” in the subject line.

Chicago Public School (CPS)

Tours are available on Thursdays and Fridays for CPS school groups, and there is no fee.

University of Illinois Chicago (UIC)

Tours are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays for UIC groups. There is no fee for class tours.

Other UIC groups are encouraged to contribute $150 per tour to support the museum’s educational and programming initiatives. The preferred payment method is through an internal transfer.

All other schools, universities, and private groups

Tours are available on Thursdays and Fridays. The rate for these tours is $15 per participant.

Tour Options

Jane Addams, Hull-House Settlement and Chicago Tour

(3rd grade – Adult, 1 hour)

In this hour-long tour, visitors will learn about the conditions immigrants faced in the 19th Ward of Chicago, the unique work of the Hull-House residents, the life and work of Jane Addams, and the lasting impact of the Hull-House Settlement.

Organized by room, each door opens to a new collection of artifacts, photographs, and stories.Visitors are encouraged to explore interactive exhibits on their own following the tour. Depending on grade level and subject interest, this interactive tour can focus on issues of labor, immigration, gender, social work, art, activism, and other special interests.

Introduction to Hull-House and the 19th Ward

(UIC Groups only, 15 minutes)

A museum educator will join your group for a 15-minute introduction to the history of the Hull-House settlement and its surrounding neighborhood, followed by 45 minutes of free exploration in the museum.

  • Be sure to indicate accessibility needs or other accommodations for tour participants.

  • Please make your requests at least 2 weeks and no more than 3 months in advance.

  • Payments for tours are due by the day of the tour. Payment can be made in advance via credit card before or on the day of the tour.
