Red Line Service Makes Paper
Workshop
Past

In Fall 2025, the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum welcomed artists from Red Line Service for a papermaking workshop led by artist Melissa Potter. Participants gathered fibers, blended pulp into handmade paper, and experimented with printmaking, assemblage, and drawing as part of a collaborative creative process.
Building on earlier workshops in ceramics and glassmaking, the program reflected a shared commitment to artistic practice, community building, and the transformative potential of the arts. The handmade papers created during the workshop were first exhibited in the Residents’ Dining Hall and will be reinstalled as part of a forthcoming museum exhibition.
Led by people with a lived experience of homelessness, Red Line Service wields art world resources to build community, generating the sense of belonging and mutual care essential to securing and retaining housing.
The partnership between Jane Addams Hull-House Museum and Red Line Service is supported by the Terra Foundation for American Art.
