Sash, date unknown
Yarn, ribbon, beads, sequins
Jane Addams Hull-House Museum Collection
We know very little about this sash; the provenance, use, and creator are all mysterious. Parts of the sash are hand sewn and other parts are machine sewn, suggesting that it was made well into the 20th century. This piece is one of many textiles in the Hull-House Collection. The textiles in the collection were created in classes at the Hull-House Settlement and speak to the diversity of the neighborhood and Hull-House’s commitment to artisanal craft.
